Happy Easter 2016

John 11: 25-26

Jesus said to her, โ€œI am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; ย and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?โ€

TFD: Tasty Night Out in East Village

Hey, TFD here!

So we went to lots of places on Saturday around East Village. We could have tried more places but because we had to get up early the following Sunday so we only covered 4 places.

We were quite stuffed actually although tbh, CC was not that full and was contemplating on havingย another snack to munch on later.

Oh yeah, she does have a big appetite! ๐Ÿ˜›

Anyway, enjoy this lovely video!

QMOTD: Gyro from The Halal Guys

For those of you who are not aware of this establishment or are new to the New York Culinary World, let me just say that this is one of the guilty pleasure meal that you need to have at least ONCE in your life! ๐Ÿ™‚

They even have couple of competitors (or should I say impostors) bearing the same name just few feet away from their original location. And even an ‘unofficial’ branches outside the country. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So famous that they decided to open a brick and mortar place in the Upper West Side and couple more locations in the city! Hooray! (Well i have known itย for quite some time, I just had a chance to actually review this lol)

order and pick up section

small size combo over rice with lots of white sauce and hot sauce! =) $6.99

There won’t be any sum up or conclusion because to be freakin honest with you all, a gyro over rice from this place is always gonna make you come back for more. I am not talking like addictive craving the next day or so (although this has happened to some few people out there) but there will be a time when you are so hungry you just want a quick chicken or lamb or beef over rice with that delicious white/hot sauce, a slice of pita, and a dollops of salad. I always go to their Upper West Side location because it is the closest from where my school is however the taste is exactly the same like you would order from the ‘famous’ street cart place on 53rd and 6th. the staffs were very friendly they even didn’t charge me extra if i want a lot of onions on my rice bowl toppings.

So yes, if you come and visit NYC, this meal is definitely A MUST HAVE at least once! ๐Ÿ˜€

When In Doubt: Kobeyaki

When was the last time you see my post with the ‘When In Doubt’ category?ย Last month? Three months ago? Last year? LOL.

Yes i know i have been procrastinating wayyy too much. I even made a new category then neglect the old one ๐Ÿ˜›

Back to WID, so basically this is the first WID section with Boo Bear in 2016. We just finished doing something in Chelsea area (more of this business will be explained sometime later) and my tummy was growling like crazy. Well, it was already lunch time anyway so we decided to look around to find restaurants nearby. We passed this place called Kobeyaki and scanned through their menu. Looked interesting so we decided to give it a try.

Unfortunately, there won’t be any pictures regarding to the restaurants’ interior and decorย because it was lunch time and customers were flocking the place like crazy. we were lucky we could get a table even though this establishment is a self service place. I chose chicken teriyaki bowl with miso soup while BB had beef teriyaki.

somebody’s been enjoying his food ๐Ÿ˜‰

chicken teriyaki bowl

beef teriyaki bowl

I would not say that this is the most authentic traditional way of serving chicken teriyaki but surprisingly their teriyaki bowl was quite delicious! they gave quite generous amount of veggies, edamames, and rice although they could have given more meat though ๐Ÿ˜› boo actually enjoyed his meal a lot (I could tell from the way he ate it) but was also saying the same thing about the meat portion issue. The miso soup was very delicious and piping hot, the miso broth was just right. This place also has a station where you can get free sauces like wasabi mayo, sriracha mayo (I might have been wrong on this one), ketchups, et cetera. So rest assured if you are a fan of sauces then you will love this place! As for the price, well, consider it’s still under $10 for a bowl so i would say affordable for everyone especially if you want something quick and different! They also offer sushi rolls and burgers made by order so if you like Japanese food with a twist then you might consider this place to try!
